fulfilment of a vow, this is indicative ofjoy, relief from distres s and recovery from sickness. It is also indicativeof high status and goodness. If he slaughters an animal in a place where slaughtering is notappropriate and that place becomes contaminated with the blood, thatis indicative of trouble in that place and th e one indicated by the animalmay die there. If the animal is male, then the person is male, otherwisethe person is female. If it is not known whether it is male or female, thensomeone who is good will die. If he slaughters it neither for food nor for worsh ip, this indicatesthat some trouble will happen to the person indicated by the animal. Wehave stated above that if he dreams that he kills a ram but it is not forfood, he is going to kill a noble man or a strong enemy. If he slaughters a chicken, he will ha ve intercourse with a virgin. A man dreamt that he was slaughtering fleas and eating them. Shaykh Shihaab - ud - Deen said to him: You eat mice. He said: You are right. Another man said: I dreamt that I was slaughtering small birds. Hesaid: You are a butcher and are incurring losses in your business. Hesaid: You are right. Another man said: I dreamt that I had an unknown animal whichwas constrained in a narrow place and it smelt bad, so I slaughtered itin its backside and the place was filled with it. He said: You opened achannel that was blocked, because you had made it too narrow. He said: You are right. Another man said: I dreamt that I slaughtered a ram from its ear andit fell on the ground. He said: You transmitted some bad words to a manof high position, and he became afraid because of it and fell sick. Andthat is what happened. Another man said: I dreamt that I slaughtered an animal when I wasin a state of purity. He said: You are single and will get married, andyou will be blessed with a son and will circumcise him. And that is whathappened. Another man said: I dreamt that I slaughtered a sheep and fed it to the warriors. He said: You have a son who will die as a martyr. And thatis what happened.
