Classical meaning
If wrestling occurs between two opposites, such as a human andanimal, the one that is thrown down will be defeated. If it happensbetween two humans, the one who is thrown down is the one who willprevail always, because Allah usually supports the one who is defeated,even if it is after a while. Allah says: “And so are the days (good and not so good), that We give tomen by turns.” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:140] According to the Hadeeth, they said: O Messenger of Allah, al-Adba’ (a camel of his that was known for always winning) was beatenin the race. He said: “It is inevitable that whenever Allah raises something in thisworld, He will lower it.” Drawing lots Drawing lots is indicative of worry and grief for the one who losesand of victory for the one who wins, because Allah says: “Then he (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers.”[Al-Saffaat 37:141] Defeat If defeat befalls the kuffaar, then that is what it is, because Allahsays: “And cast terror into their hearts.” [Al-Ahzaab 33:26] If it happens to the Muslims, it indicates that they will prevail,because Allah says: “And they, after their defeat, will be victorious.”[Al-Room 30:2] If the dreamer sees righteous troops entering the city defeated, theywill prevail, but if they are wrongdoers, punishment will befall them,because Allah says: “a defeated host like the Confederates of the old times (whowere defeated).” [Saad 38:11] Fleeing If fleeing occurs without fear, this is indicative of safety, becauseAllah says: “So flee to Allah (from His Torment to His Mercy IslamicMonotheism).” [al - haariyaat 51:50] If it is with fear, that is indicative of attaining a position of authorityand high status, because Allah says: “So I [Moosa] fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukm (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgment of the affairs and Prophethood), and made me one of the Messengers. ” [Al - Shu’ara’ 26:21]
